DR. RICHARD DRAYER
Dr. Drayer completed his undergraduate education and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland. He opened his own private practice after receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. He is therapeutically certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease. Over his career he has been fortunate to receive the Optometric Recognition Award from the American Optometric Association. He also distinguished himself in his profession in his earlier years by being awarded the "Young Optometrist of the Year" in the state of Kentucky by the Kentucky Optometric Association. The same organization again presented him the "Clifford C. Leadingham Optometrist of the Year" award in 2009, as acknowledgment of his many years of consistent dedication to his patients and profession. He is also proud to have received the Woodford County "Business Person of the Year" award in 1997 from the local Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Drayer currently serves on the advisory board of one of the largest surgical eye care clinics in Kentucky. He also serves on the Woodford County Board of Health. In the past he is proud to have served on the boards of the Kentucky Optometric Association, KY Optometric Foundation, and many years on the board of the Woodford County Chamber of Commerce. For about 20 years he served in several leadership positions on the Woodford County United Way, including Vice President and President. He was President at the time and was instrumental in that organization joining into the regional United Way of the Bluegrass. In that charitable organization he served as Chairman of the Woodford County branch, and on the executive board of the main organization.
